Change the unhealthy lifestyle for healthy skin!!

Remove these unhealthy lifestyle habits and see how your skin glows from inside!!

1.Don’t be that sleeping beauty who sleeps with makeup on!

Having a bad day? Apply your most favourite lipstick and bammm! You would be as happy and refreshed as your dog when it sees you after a long hard day!

But do you know that you are doing a sin if you are not removing makeup?? The makeup gods do not like you crashing into the bed with makeup on your face.

Remove your makeup before going to bed, remove makeup from face
Don't sleep with your makeup on!

Do you want to know why??

When you put on any makeup product on your skin, it gets mixed with the dirt, grime and sebum (oil secreted by the skin) and would clog the pores which left untreated causes breakout and would clog the pores which left untreated causes breakout and acne.

Apart from that, makeup would also accumulate in the fine lines around the eyes which would dry up the skin and lead to increase in the risk of wrinkles.

So what would be the best way to remove the makeup??

Melt down your day-old makeup with your favorite cleanser

Most of us get confused between a facewash and a cleanser. While the basic function of both the dermatological products are the same, there are subtle differences how they function on the skin.

Many times the facewash that are available in the market have a surfactant. Surfactants are surface acting agents which have a hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail.

These hydrophobic tails have oil loving properties and trap the grime, dirt and makeup in the tails. the hydrophilic tails have affinity for water. Thus, the hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tails create micelles and can be rinsed very easily with water.

This is the basic mechanism of how facewashes work.

Now let’s move to learning how the facial cleansers work. Facial cleansers contain ingredients which are more hydrophobic in nature. These oil-loving ingredients dissolve the makeup and melt it as it is mostly made up of oil-soluble ingredients.

How to apply??

you should massage your cleanser in an upward direction all over your face and let it remain on the skin for about 15 to 20 seconds. This time period would allow the cleanser to melt all the oil-soluble makeup.

After this gently wipe out the cleanser with cotton pads or with the help of cotton washcloth.

This would ensure you that you have atleast removed the everyday light makeup like BB cream or a foundation.

2. Take a pledge to rejuvenate your skin with sunscreen

Always apply sunscreen before stepping out for younger looking skin.

Did you know that you can reverse the fast ageing effect of your skin by merely applying the sunscreen in the right way?? If you make sunscreens an important part of daily skin regimen, it would improve the appearance of the skin.

Skin damage by the sun is the primary reason of uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation. It would make your skin complexion look even. It would also help you to prevent your skin from showing early signs of ageing.

Do you know how sunscreen shows its amazing effects on the skin??

So, basically sunscreens can be broadly classified as two categories.

Physical and organic sunscreens. Organic UV sunscreens contain active ingredients which absorb the UV radiation and emits that energy as a very low heat.

Physical sunscreens contain on the other hand contain Active ingredients like zinc oxide which has the capability to either scatters or reflects the UV waves, hence forming the barrier.

Do let me know in the comment section if you want me to blabber more of information on sunscreen.

3. Make your skin baby soft by making sure what you eat is right!!!

Have a healthy diet for healthy skin from the inside out!!

Do you know the secret of having a clear skin lies more on what you put inside your body than what you apply outside on the skin?? If I have to choose one ultimate enemy of my skin then it would definitely be PROCESSED CARBOHYDRATES. Your skin pays a lot by appearing dull and soggy for every piece of your favourite cake and candy that you eat. This is because it has refined carbohydrates as the main ingredient. Refined carbohydrates mainly refer to the sugar and flour which is processed.

How do they harm the skin??

These refined carbohydrates are then broken down into glucose molecules during digestion. Besides adding a very poor nutrition value, these glucose molecules act as a fodder to the harmful bacteria present in the gut. Availability of the extra fodder gives a chance for the harmful bacteria to flourish and spread the harmful bacteria in the body.

foods bad for skin, foods worst for skin

The tasty refined carbohydrates needs to be removed from your life for a healthier you!

It was also found in a research that huge proportion of your immune system and a large quantity of immune cells is actually in your GI tract as said by Dan Peterson, assistant professor of pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

So, these immune cells fight to ward off these harmful bacteria resulting in a weaker immune system. This weaker immune system can cast a bad spell on the entire body including your skin.

Let’s be honest here, if you weaken your immune system by eating a lot of refined carbohydrates, the bacteria will spread and attach to the pores on the skin. The pores, sebum and the bacteria in the pore is a dreadful combination for acne outbreak.

The good bacteria in the gut fights with the harmful bacteria for nutrients and its existence in the gut. This hampers the process of digestion which ultimately leads to toxins not being effectively removed from the body!!

Also, the fact that skin is the largest organ in the body and the toxins could accumulate in the skin. This is a possible way how the body gets rid of toxin when the digestive system is not fully capable to do so. There are research reports which supports the fact that refined carbohydrates indeed cause acne breakouts.

So after knowing these side effects of the processed carbohydrates, you could imagine how radiant and glowing your skin will look without unhealthy carbs?

This is just one aspect of healthy eating. Do let me know if you want to know more about healthy eating!!

4. Be a sleeping beauty!!

Did you know that sleeping benefits your skin in the same way as meditation to your mind? Meditation helps to remove toxins from your brain and in the same way, sleeping helps to remove the toxins not only from you skin but also the entire body.

Skin being the largest organ in the body acts as a primary major barrier to all the n number of possible infectious agents that you come in contact with everyday life!!

Not only this, your skin also constantly fights with external oxidative stressors like the UV rays (here comes the importance of sunscreen that I had previously mentioned), pollutants like the tobacco smoke, processed and packaged foods which has the potential to produce loads of oxidants in your body.

sleep for skin, sleep for skin health, sleep for skincare
Always have a at least 6- 8 hours of beauty sleep!!

These stressors are the major reason for the collagen breakdown. Let me remind you that the collagen is the backbone of your skin. It not only provides you the elasticity that is required to make your skin look supple but also keeps it hydrated. When the skin is young, the collagen which is broken down is restored continuously by the body. But as the skin matures, the capability of the skin to regenerate collagen reduces, thus the losing elasticity of the skin and dry skin emerges as the skin matures. The dry skin is the major reason for early signs of aging like wrinkle formation!!

The skin uses the antioxidants produced by the body to scavenge the free radicals produced during the day by these oxidant stressors. Thus, the oxidative damage to the skin is repaired and these all happens when you sleep!! Skin also produces melanin to cope up with these oxidant stressors.

When you combine these oxidative stressors with your lack of sleep and being all night awake, gives you a perfect recipe to give your skin early signs of aging than it would normally.

So, how does sleep help you with these oxidative stresses?? Well, when you don’t sleep at night, the level of stress hormones like the adrenaline and cortisol goes way up which triggers the inflammatory reaction on skin and causes breakouts.

When you are sleeping, the skin’s repair mechanism awakens, all thanks to its natural regeneration mechanism. But how does this natural regeneration happen??

First of all, the cortisol and adrenaline levels step down when you have a good night sleep and relieve your tiredness accumulated throughout the day. Apart from that, the level of human growth hormones and melatonin spike up in the blood.

Melatonin stimulates the Both of the hormones, accelerates skin regeneration and rejuvenates your skin by producing more collagen and increasing elasticity.

Your skin becomes permeable at night and hence more are the chances of water loss throughout your sleep. You can use as simple ingredient as rose water, to balance out the skin pH and tone your skin naturally during night.

If you inculcate moisturization into your night skincare routine, it would help you prepare your skin to fight against the harm inflicted on it the next day.

So make sure that you sleep for atleast eight hours every day for that radiant, moisturized and younger looking skin.
